Lesson Overview:
- After warm-up questions, students read a passage containing three abbreviated stories from the AITA (r/AmIthe A**hole?) subreddit. Encourage students to read and discuss each story, assessing if the OP (original poster) is to blame or not. The passage is 440 words in length.
- The passage is followed by comprehension questions and a list of 12 vocabulary items that students should match to their corresponding definitions.
- Next, students use some of the new vocabulary in to complete discussion questions.
- The lesson has one roleplay between a brother who wants to have a child-free wedding and his sister.
- To review vocabulary, the lesson also has a storytelling activity in which students should try to build a story using the images provided and the lesson's vocabulary. (Note: The images should elicit a story about someone stealing someone's lunch).
- Next, in an AITA Rapid Fire activity, students discuss five more shortened AITA situations.
- After some famous quotations related to interpersonal relationships, students review vocabulary, collocations, and then ask each other some final discussion questions.
